QMSys Thread-PD is a specialized module within the QMSys Threads and Gauges software suite designed to calculate the pitch diameter of external and internal threads using measurement data from wires or balls. It automates complex calculations required by international standards like ISO, ANSI, and DIN, eliminating manual errors associated with formulas like the three-wire method.

Step-by-Step: Calculating Pitch Diameter with QMSys Thread-PD

Select Thread Type: Choose the specific thread standard from the built-in database, such as Metric (ISO 68-1), Unified (UNC/UNF), or Pipe threads (NPT/G).

Input Nominal Dimensions: Enter the basic thread parameters, including the nominal diameter and pitch (or TPI).

Choose Measurement Method: Select whether you are using the three-wire method (for external threads) or balls (for internal threads).

Enter Wire/Ball Size: Input the actual diameter of the measuring wires or balls being used. The software can also recommend the “best-size” wire based on the pitch.

Input Measured Values: Manually enter the measurement over the wires (M) or import data directly from a connected instrument via USB or RS-232.

Review Results: The software instantly calculates the actual pitch diameter and compares it against the allowable limits (minimum/maximum tolerances) for that specific thread class.

Generate Report: Export the final data into a professional inspection report in RTF, XLS, or TXT format. Key Capabilities of QMSys Thread-PD Standard Compliance Calculates based on ISO, ANSI, ASME, and DIN. Correction Factors

Automatically accounts for flank angle deviations and measuring force. Broad Support

Works for Parallel and Tapered threads, including specialized types like Trapezoidal or ACME. Calibration Integration

Part of a larger system that manages gauge calibration and uncertainty analysis.
